Trump: “If Democrats go after Musk, I will step in to protect him.”
According to a November 2 report by the New York Post, Trump stated in an interview on the newspaper’s podcast “Pod Force One” that “we will have to protect these people” if Democrats gain control of Congress after the midterm elections and launch investigations or prosecutions against figures close to him—including Elon Musk. When asked about Democratic rhetoric calling for Musk’s arrest, Trump asserted, “That won’t happen—it’s just talk,” but quickly added: “If it ever does come to that, we will protect them.” He also emphasized his willingness—should the need arise—to follow President Biden’s example and issue preemptive pardons to everyone who had worked for him, citing his own prior use of such pardons related to the January 6 events.
Meanwhile, market sources indicate Trump agrees with Musk’s warning—posted on X on October 30—that Democrats could “sweep” the 2028 U.S. presidential election is not unfounded. In that post, Musk cautioned that if Democrats win both the presidency and control of both the House and Senate in 2028, they may push to grant statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico—thereby expanding their Senate seat advantage. Earlier, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich had urged Democrats to lay the groundwork for nationalizing SpaceX; and Trump himself publicly backed Musk as early as October 23, declaring he “would never do anything wrong.”
