Foreign media: The United States sends a signal to allies that there is no emergency plan to launch a ground invasion of Iran
On March 28, foreign media quoted people familiar with the matter as revealing that the Trump administration is telling allies that although thousands of soldiers have been deployed to the Middle East, there is no plan to immediately launch a ground invasion of Iran. People familiar with the matter warned that Trump could change his mind or launch an attack at any time. People familiar with the matter said the forces could play multiple roles, including assisting in the evacuation of U.S. citizens, but also aim to create strategic ambiguity about U.S. intentions. When asked about the Wall Street Journal's report that the United States might send 10,000 more troops to the region, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said all such news would be released by the Pentagon and Trump "always has all military options."
