An Israeli Air Force Major accused of using confidential information to profit from trading in Polymarket
A Tel Aviv court revealed on Thursday that an Israeli Air Force reservist was suspected of using confidential information to make profits in deals on Polymarket related to last year's war between Israel and Iran, the Israel Times reported.
The defendant, a former Air Force major, was charged last month with serious security crimes, as well as bribery and obstruction of justice, along with his accomplices, who were suspected of trading over the time of Israel's first air strike in the 12-day war launched in June 2025. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the suspect or the specific content of the transaction. The case was initially protected by a court injunction. After multiple Hebrew media applications late Thursday, part of the injunction was lifted and details of the case were allowed to be made public, but the defendant's name has not yet been released.
The two men received a total of $162,663 after their successful prediction in June last year, and they agreed to split the money equally. Last month, prosecutors filed charges against the two men in Tel Aviv District Court and sought to detain them until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
