South Korea's FSC reports: More than US$60 billion in crypto assets will flow overseas from local exchanges in the second half of 2025
According to TheBlock, the Korea Financial Services Commission released a report stating that South Korea's crypto exchanges flowed approximately US$60 billion in cryptocurrency to overseas platforms and private wallets in the second half of 2025, an increase of 14% from US$52.5 billion in the first half of the year. The report speculated that the funds were transferred overseas for similar activities such as arbitrage. As of the end of 2025, the number of accounts on the South Korean crypto exchange reached 11.1 million, and deposits increased by 31% to US$5.4 billion, but operating profit fell by 38% to US$253 million during the same period. The Korea Financial Services Commission estimates that the total market value of South Korea's cryptocurrencies at the end of 2025 will be approximately US$58 billion, down 8% from the first half of the year, and the average daily transaction volume will drop 15% to US$3.6 billion. The report pointed out that the decline in the prices of major cryptocurrencies at the end of last year was the main reason for the decline in trading volume and exchange profitability.
