Vance reveals details of negotiations: The deadlock lies in Iran's insufficient authorization
On April 14, according to Fox News, U.S. Vice President Vance said that the U.S. delegation withdrew from the negotiations after determining that Iranian negotiators lacked the authority to finalize a deal, adding that any progress now depends on approval from the Tehran leadership. "I think we did understand the way some of the Iranians negotiated, and that was ultimately why we left Pakistan because we found that I thought the team there couldn't reach a deal and they had to go back to Tehran and either get approval from the supreme leader or someone else to accept the terms we put forward," he said. Vance stressed that Trump remains open to establishing a more normal relationship with Iran as long as key conditions are met. But he said that if Iran wants to become a normal country economically, it must become a normal country that does not pursue nuclear weapons and a normal country that does not engage in "terrorism."
