On April 29, the United States announced sanctions on 35 Iranian-related entities and individuals, accusing them of helping to circumvent sanctions and providing financial support to Iran. U.S. Treasury Secretary Basent said any institution that participates in or assists Iran's "shadow banking" system will face severe consequences.
