A federal court in New York ordered Arbitrum DAO to freeze $71 million in ETH involving North Korean hackers or use it to compensate victims of terrorist attacks
On May 3, according to documents from the Federal Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. court issued an injunction against Arbitrum DAO, requiring it not to transfer approximately US$71 million in ETH assets previously frozen from the KelpDAO hacking incident. The plaintiff tried to use the assets to enforce outstanding judgments and compensation against North Korea in many years of terrorism, kidnapping and other cases. Court documents stated that the plaintiff had applied for alternative service to give legal notice to Arbitrum DAO and regarded it as a "partnership" that could be held accountable. The court also emphasized that the Arbitrum DAO has a Security Council governed by ARB holders and has the ability to take action in emergency situations. Therefore, if relevant members refuse to cooperate, they may face legal liability such as contempt of court.
