Anthropic promises to work more closely with the White House to address model safety concerns
On June 19, the Washington Post learned that Anthropic executives promised in a proposal submitted to U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnik to work more closely with the White House and work to address security concerns that have limited its powerful "Mythos" and "Fable" models. In ongoing rectification negotiations, Anthropic promised to improve communication with the Trump administration and resolve any security issues more quickly in the future, people familiar with the matter revealed on Thursday. The source added that negotiations between Anthropic and Trump administration officials are progressing smoothly, although there is currently no firm timetable for a complete resolution of the issue. Another person familiar with the matter said that as of Thursday, Anthropic co-founder and chief computing officer Tom Brown and public policy director Sarah Heck were leading negotiations with Trump administration officials. Representatives for Anthropic and the Commerce Department did not respond to requests for comment.
