Iranian drone attacks Bahrain and oil tankers are attacked after U.S. strikes Iran
Iran launched a drone strike on Bahrain on Saturday on June 28, while a ship in the Strait of Hormuz was also attacked, in a possible response from Tehran to U.S. overnight airstrikes. The attack in the Persian Gulf once again showed that even if Iran and the United States have reached an interim agreement to try to agree on a final ceasefire, the war in Iran could still get out of hand. Earlier, the U.S. Central Command said that the United States launched a strike against Iran on June 26 in response to its attack on merchant ships. At the same time, the International Maritime Organization said on Saturday it would expand routes in the strait near Oman to allow two-way traffic. The move could once again ignite new tensions with Tehran, which views the strait as an important source of leverage in continued negotiations with the United States.
