Iran: The current focus is on implementing the memorandum of understanding and not negotiating with the United States in the near future
On June 30, a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Iran's current priority is to ensure the implementation of all provisions of the memorandum of understanding. As far as Article 10 of the memorandum concerns the United States 'commitment to allow Iranian oil exports, the United States has issued the required licenses and Iran is following up on the implementation progress; as far as Article 11 concerns the lifting of Iran's frozen assets, relevant implementation procedures are also advancing. This week, Iran will send a technical delegation to Qatar to consult on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, including Article 11. The spokesman said Iran has not yet launched negotiations on a final agreement. According to Article 13 of the memorandum of understanding, the prerequisite for initiating negotiations on the final agreement is that Articles 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 begin and continue to be implemented. In addition, the spokesman stressed that Iran will not hold negotiations at any level with the United States in the next few days. The visit of U.S. representatives to Qatar has nothing to do with the visit of the Iranian technical delegation. The purpose of the Iranian delegation to Qatar is to follow up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding (including Article 11). (Jin Shi)
