According to TheBlock, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reviewing the way it regulates new funds such as crypto ETFs and the proposed forecast market ETFs, and publicly solicited public comment on Tuesday.
SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said he hopes to solicit opinions on how to better protect investors while supporting market innovation. The SEC has currently approved a number of crypto ETFs other than Bitcoin and Ethereum, including products for assets such as SOL and DOGE, but predicts that approval of market-related ETFs is still delayed.
TDCowen analyst Jaret Seiberg believes that this consultation may push the SEC to introduce a broader ETF listing framework in 2027, covering products such as event contracts, crypto assets and single stock strategies.
