On July 7, Sierra Leone's Ministry of Communications, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI), Bhutan National Digital Identity Limited (BhutanNDI) and SIGNFoundation signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the design, development and implementation of the Sierra Leone National Digital Identity Platform. The platform leverages open source technology and verifiable credentials that comply with W3C standards to enable citizens to securely prove and manage their identity while maintaining strict standards of privacy, security and data sovereignty. In this cooperation, MoCTI of Sierra Leone is responsible for strategic leadership, policy formulation and coordination of government agencies; NDI of Bhutan will provide mature national digital identity architecture experience and open source identity framework; and SIGN Foundation is responsible for system design, solution architecture and technology implementation.
