Swyftx: AI micro-enterprises may drive stablecoin trading volume to reach US$262 billion in 2033
According to the second-quarter industry report of Australia crypto exchange Swyftx, the global gig and freelance payment market is expected to reach US$2.1 trillion in 2033, of which native AI practitioners will contribute US$775 billion.
Under an adoption rate assumption of approximately 33%, the Swyftx benchmark model predicts that $262 billion of this will be settled through stablecoins. PavHundal, chief market analyst at Swyftx, said that micro enterprises with fewer than five people are becoming the fastest adopters of AI, spawning a group of independent entrepreneurs with cross-border operations and high-frequency billing. Currently, there are about 6 to 10 million people worldwide, and it is expected to increase to 17 million within ten years.
Traditional cross-border payments have high fees and take several days to settle, but stablecoin transfers through the Ethereum Layer2 network can reduce fees by 80% to 90%. Swyftx added that if the forecast comes true, institutional clearing layers that provide over-the-counter liquidity, custody and revenue services for these payments could capture up to $1.3 billion in new revenue by 2033. The market value of stablecoins has doubled in the past two years, with trading volume reaching a record high of US$1.79 trillion in June.
