Alphabet plans to raise A $5 billion through its first bond issue in Australia
According to people familiar with the matter, Alphabet Inc. is seeking to issue approximately A$5 billion (US$3.6 billion) in bonds as U.S. technology giants compete to raise funds for artificial intelligence (AI) investments, which will be the company's first bond issue in Australia. People familiar with the matter said preliminary price guidance could be provided as early as Tuesday, with pricing possible the next day. ANZ Bank, one of the underwriting banks, said in an emailed statement that Alphabet may issue bonds with four maturities, up to 20 years. Alphabet issued US$25 billion in bonds in the U.S. dollar market earlier this month, and will also issue Swiss franc, British pound, euro, Canadian dollar and Japanese yen bonds in 2026. The company also recently raised nearly $85 billion through equity financing. (Bloomberg)
