Iran: Pakistan and Qatar are pushing for a detente, US-Iran negotiations have not yet started
On August 17, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bagae said that Pakistan and Qatar are making efforts to ease the situation and there are currently no other mediators. He said that Iran and the United States have not yet initiated any negotiations due to the United States 'violation of a previously signed memorandum of understanding; the deadline stipulated in the memorandum is for negotiations on the lifting of sanctions and the nuclear issue, and there is no so-called "60-day negotiation deadline." Bagae said that negotiations between Iran and Oman are still in progress and the two sides are carefully formulating a road map for maritime traffic. Negotiations with Oman took a long time due to the complexity of the issues, the involvement of multiple participants, and the attempts of some countries to disrupt the process. He also stressed that Iran will not make decisions under time pressure and ultimatums. (Jin Shi)
