The difference in revenue between OpenAI and Anthropic raises market concerns

Bloomberg disclosed that there are significant differences in revenue statistics between OpenAI and Anthropic, which makes it impossible to directly compare the annualized revenue data they publish. OpenAI only calculates the share of net revenue provided by partners such as Microsoft, while Anthropic includes all sales from cloud service partners such as Amazon into revenue statistics. Neither party disclosed standardized financial statements, which made it difficult for investors to assess the true scale of their business. According to insiders, OpenAI expects actual revenue for the full year of 2026 to be approximately US$35 billion, which is only half of its US$70 billion annualized revenue target. Documents obtained by Bloomberg show that Anthropic's actual revenue in 2025 was US$4.6 billion, while the annualized revenue announced at that time exceeded US$9 billion. Analysts pointed out that differences in the calculation methods of annualized revenue indicators are key factors affecting the financial comparison of the two companies.
