Trump: “Monitoring the Binance hack—still unclear if North Korea is involved.”

According to Bloomberg, U.S. President Donald Trump responded to the recent security incident affecting Binance. In live C-SPAN footage, on October 30 local time, Trump—while meeting in the White House Oval Office with an American citizen previously detained by Russia—told reporters: “We don’t know [if North Korean hackers were behind the attack]; it’s under investigation.” When asked whether the stolen funds could be recovered, he relayed Binance’s statement: “They say they’ve essentially contained the situation,” and confirmed the exchange’s commitment to recovering the funds. He added, “People no longer see physical money,” and candidly admitted, “I’ve always thought this was somewhat risky.” The security breach occurred earlier this week and impacted approximately $6.3 billion in assets; on-chain analytics firm TRM Labs and others have attributed the attack to the North Korean hacker group Lazarus Group (also known as “Tra”).
