Nominis analyzed that the behavioral characteristics of some of the "Iranian-related" crypto-wallets recently seized and frozen by the U.S. OFAC may not conform to the previous operating model of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and other national-level actors may be involved behind it. Previously, the U.S. Treasury Department stated that it had frozen more than US$340 million in Iranian-related crypto assets during the "OperationEconomicFury" operation, with a total of nearly US$500 million. NominisCEO SnirLevi said that historically, IRGC-related wallets usually spread funds to multiple addresses, have a low balance in a single wallet, avoid long-term positions, and reduce the risk of being frozen through complex operations; but this time the seized wallet has obvious differences in the fund structure and behavioral patterns. He believes this raises a key question: How much of the $340 million in frozen assets is under the direct control of the IRGC and how much involves broader infrastructure that may even overlap with other countries 'financial networks. Levi also pointed out that organizations, including IRGC and potential China national-level actors, are continuing to upgrade the use of their blockchain infrastructure. Traditional static risk control labels are no longer enough, and behavioral analysis and address clustering are becoming more critical.
