Trump: “If Democrats secure the majority, I may become ‘Mr. Veto.’”
On November 1, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if Democrats win a majority in Congress in Tuesday’s midterm elections, he may be forced to assume the role of “Mr. Veto.” He explained: “They’ll send bill after bill—and all you have to do is veto them one by one.” He further predicted: “After a month or two, every single proposal gets vetoed—because these bills are utterly meaningless and a complete waste of time—so they’ll have no choice but to come to me to negotiate.” Trump will hold campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa this Sunday, vigorously supporting Republicans’ efforts to retain control of Congress. Current polls show his flagging approval ratings are creating an opening for Democrats—not only to seize control of at least one chamber (the Senate or the House of Representatives), but potentially both. “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that,” he added.
