Best Crypto Apps in Indonesia 2026: OJK Whitelist Checklist best crypto app indonesia,aplikasi jual beli crypto terbaik,ojk whitelist,PAKD,d

Dozens of apps in Indonesia call themselves the best crypto app, but only one test protects your money: whether it appears on the OJK whitelist. In Ju…

Search "best crypto app in Indonesia" and you will find dozens of pages claiming the title — yet the one fact that actually protects your money, whether the app appears on the OJK whitelist, is almost never stated. Crypto supervision moved from Bappebti to OJK in January 2025, renaming the old PFAK licence to PAKD; and in June 2026 Indonesia's illegal-investment task force (Satgas PASTI) shut down 228 unlicensed digital financial asset traders in one announcement, including brands with global recognition. Here is the local, compliance-first way to choose an app, written as a checklist you can follow.

The short answer: four criteria, in this order

  • 1. Licence: confirm the app is on the OJK whitelist and note whether it is a licensed PAKD or a registered applicant (CPAKD). Anything absent from the list is out;
  • 2. Tradable assets: coins on offer must sit on the DAKD digital financial asset list maintained by a licensed crypto exchange — a hard Indonesian requirement;
  • 3. Rupiah rails: support for at least two of virtual account, e-wallet and convenience-store cash, plus how fast IDR withdrawals settle;
  • 4. Cost and depth: fees, bid/ask spread, order-book depth and minimum ticket size — the criteria that actually separate one app from another.

Conversely, be most wary of apps advertising "zero fees" or "new-user bonuses" while staying vague about their licence.

Three hard constraints unique to Indonesia

First, the whitelist is the only authority. OJK publishes a periodic list of licensed PAKDs and registered CPAKDs, and it is the official test of legality. There is also the reverse list: the 228 entities stopped in June 2026 include Binance, KuCoin, Coinbase, Bybit, OKX, Gate, MEXC and HTX. Those domains show "Akun tidak tersedia di Indonesia" or fail to load from Indonesian connections.

Second, the asset itself must be compliant. Legal trading is limited to assets that have entered the DAKD list, maintained by the two licensed crypto exchanges, PT Central Finansial X (CFX) and PT Fortuna Integritas Mandiri (IC/ICEx). As of July 2026, CFX carried roughly 1,214 digital financial assets (plus about 49 derivatives) and ICEx around 871. So whether an app can offer a given small-cap coin is decided by the list, not by the app.

Third, tax is withheld at settlement. Under PMK 50/2025, effective 1 August 2025, crypto sold through a domestic licensed platform (PAKD) carries final income tax of about 0.21% of transaction value, versus 1% through an offshore platform; VAT (PPN) rules were adjusted alongside, and mining income moves to normal income tax from fiscal 2026. Licensed platforms withhold and issue receipts automatically — a convenience for users who must file an annual SPT return.

Telling licensed local apps apart

Among Indonesian platforms on the OJK whitelist, the familiar names are Indodax (one of the country's oldest, broad spot selection), Tokocrypto, Pintu (beginner-oriented, with recurring-buy features), Nanovest, Upbit Indonesia (the licensed local entity of Korea's Upbit), Luno and BTSE, with PT Indonesia Digital Exchange and PT Gudang Kripto Indonesia receiving licences during 2026.

Two rules of thumb: look at DAKD coverage rather than the raw coin count — a long list with thin depth usually means worse fills — and withdrawal experience matters more than deposit experience. Settlement time to a same-name bank account, fees and daily limits are what shape day-to-day use. Fees and limits change; always check the app's latest published schedule rather than trusting any single article.

Comparing deposit rails

  • Virtual account: fastest settlement and highest limits; the default if you bank on your phone;
  • E-wallet: GoPay, OVO, DANA, ShopeePay — handy without online banking, but limits and timing differ by wallet;
  • Retail cash: pay cash at Alfamart or Indomaret using a generated code; useful without a bank account, slightly higher fees.

Whichever you use: fund from an account or wallet in your own name — third-party payments get risk-flagged — and keep transfer notes neutral.

Why the big international venues are not on the list

Binance, OKX and Gate lead globally on scale, depth and coin coverage, and we covered their fees and security in our Binance review and OKX review. In Indonesia, however, they are not on the OJK whitelist and are among the entities stopped or blocked: access may be restricted, Indonesian consumer protection does not cover you, and sellers face the 1% offshore tax tier rather than 0.21%. For a user in Indonesia they are useful background reading, not a primary route.

If you still want an international account as a fallback, weigh the compliance and access risk yourself. You can review products at Binance or OKX; if you specifically want a platform with a licensed Indonesian entity, Upbit is on the whitelist.

A five-minute legitimacy check

  1. Search the OJK whitelist by app name or operating company (the PT entity) and confirm whether it is a PAKD or CPAKD;
  2. Open the app's market list and confirm your intended coin sits on the DAKD list;
  3. Check that deposits and withdrawals use Indonesian banks or e-wallets, and that withdrawals are restricted to same-name accounts;
  4. Search the brand against the Satgas PASTI illegal-entity lists;
  5. Only then compare fees, spreads and minimum order sizes — cost comes after compliance.

That sequence filters out most of the traps. To avoid counterfeit apps and phishing sites, read our guide to spotting fake exchange sites; to understand what you are buying, start with the Bitcoin primer.

FAQ

Is an app with more coins always better?

No. Listing breadth is bounded by the DAKD list; what determines fill quality is per-coin depth and spread. For beginners, a platform with tight spreads on BTC, ETH and USDT beats one with the longest coin table.

Can I use an international exchange for IDR pairs?

Not as a primary route. International venues are not on the OJK whitelist, access from Indonesia may be blocked, and there is no local legal or consumer protection. The seller-side final income tax is also 1% versus roughly 0.21% domestically.

Is "zero fees" enough to go on?

No. Many platforms move cost into the bid/ask spread, so "zero fees" often means a wider spread. Judge real cost by comparing the best bid and ask at a given moment against your actual fill.
